April 11th Yanuar, I did a brief post about this here on Gooruze a while back linking to a longer post called Content is Not King It is Supreme on my own blog. My post has even more links to even more detailed explanations about what it means, what it is etc. It's variously known as the data web, microformats, FOAF, RDF, Linked Data and Web 3.0 Essentially, it is about marking up your data or content in a format that can be universally transferred, processed, shared, combined and mapped by any number of organisations, systems, applications and devices. It's heady stuff, and at the moment it's definitely the domain of the engineers and techs. However, it does/could have major implications for any online business. If your really keen, read my post, follow the other links, and if your head's not spinning after digesting all of it, then good for you.

April 10th My understanding is that the semantic web is a version of the web that is comprehensible to computers. Programmers can use certain markup in their code to help computers understand the relationships between links, content, images, etc. This would effect marketers in that censorship would be easier to achieve on major indexing sites as well as by the government. Search Engine Optimization would reach a new level where only the most relevant content would win and advertisers would have a hard time slipping between the cracks. I'm stretching here to answer your question so if I am way off or someone else can do better please have at it :) Reply
