June 4th i haven't received anything along these lines from the site so I'm not clear exactly what you are receiving. Are you receiving unsoliciated messages from Gooruze? From other members? via e-mail or via the messgaing service on this site? For any of these, I can provide some high level recommendations about how to take action. First, are you receiving messages t hrough the service from other members which you think are SPAM? If so, report that member and their message and the Gooruze team will take immediate action. There are no official "police" on this site, so its up to us, the members, to speak up to keep all members' activities above board. Second, if you are receiving messages via e-mail, which you were not expecting, take a moment to understand the type of message before declaring it "SPAM!". There have been recent updates to the CAN-SPAM act of 2003 which clearly define messages for commercial use (which must adhere to CAN-SPAM) and messages for relationship or transactional use (do not require CAN-SPAM compliance). A message with a commerical request (selling something or incenting the recipient with something of value) must allow opt-outs, contain a physical address for the company, and must have a sender/domain match. A message letting you know about new free services included in your already-existing Gooruze membership or about chnages to the site or confirming your registration or confirming your purchase of something, all fall into the latter category and do not require opt-outs. Even newsletters fall into this second category, unless they are pitching something that requires a purchase/commitment. In any event, most companies want to be thoughful of their members/customers/subscribers and honor opt-outs from these types of communications as well. If you are receiving unsolicated e-mails from other members, report them to Gooruze, just as you would with the messaging service. If they continue this practice they will be kicked off. So its up to you as the member to keep this community running clean and productive. If there is a member you think is violating the rules speak up. Tell Gooruze. Call them out publicly until they can either back up their position/practices, stop violating the rules of the community, or are kicked off for bad business practices. Reply
