I received the following email from a colleague of mine...not quite sure how to answer and was curious to see what ya'll thought about it.  Can anyone offer up any good reason for his high page rank that happened in just a month or two?

I set up the blog for opendoorteam.com just a couple months ago, the home page is already a PR 5: http://www.opendoorteam.com/

My test Neighborhood Guide is already a PR 4: http://www.opendoorteam.com/mirramont-woodstock-ga/#more-15
My schools page is also a PR 4: http://www.opendoorteam.com/schools/
My About page is a PR 4: http://www.opendoorteam.com/about/
My Listings category page is PR 4: http://www.opendoorteam.com/category/listings/

I telling you all this because I am amazed and don't have any good reasons for the quick PR ratings.  I think it may have something to do with the Revolution Magazine theme, is this possible?  I know I got some good links from the first news story I broke: http://www.opendoorteam.com/news-kids-on-everyblock/ (PR 5)  But can one story with lots of backlinks really help all those other pages?

I'm just sharing this as a case study.  If you have any ideas as to why the great success so fast, please share.  Otherwise, I will keep testing and share any insight I gain with all of you.

The high PR must have something to do with the great links to the http://www.opendoorteam.com/news-kids-on-everyblock/ article.  Yahoo! only recognizes 22 incoming links to that article but there are several PR 4-5 websites and one PR 6.  These kind of trusted incoming links with very few outgoing links on the page is enough to push PR to where is it.  Good work!

Now keep in mind that PR and SERP placement do not go hand in hand but this is a great start!

Hi There -

Not quite certain what it could be based on the information.  My first thought would be back links and high quality ones at that, Digg, .edu or .gov domains (I know they had mentioned the magazine).  The magazine itself could have plenty of high-quality links to it as well.  I'd be curious to know where it sits in the SERPs for their competitive keywords.  Although high PR is a "nice to have" I'd be curious to know where it's sitting in the Search Engines?

I'd love to know if you've figured it out :-)  Could be a useful piece of information.
