Here at marketingmag.com.au we're in the business of getting content to marketers that they would find relevant. Part of this means we work hard to have a presence in as many social networking and micro-blogging channels as possible. In this sense we leverage micro-blogging platforms specifically as a function of our core business model.

How many marketers out there are already using these channels in a business context beyond networking, and for those not using micro-blogging in this way, do you intend to adopt a strategy in this area in the future?

A great article that Darren Rowse over at Problogger Plurked about recently would be my place to start if I was considering first forays into business applications of social media and micro-blogging. It's comprehensive and very helpful:

Looking forward to hearing from the community about your thoughts in this area,

Cheers,

we use Twitter to share our Technology content with our followers.

Twitter.com/techdispenser, brings together members in Computerworld's technology blog network, so they can discuss their posted blog content and network with each other. Seems to be working well so far...

i also am on Twitter for personal use. twitter.com/bansi . love Twitter...

We are using it and we have recommended that a number of our clients use it as well. The sports team we have in our stable is going to use twitter during games to send out stats, facts, commentary, locker room chat, etc....

Yes, I'm on Twitter frequently for my own business, and personal use, and even follow a few commercial Twitter accounts myself, to keep abreast on their updates.  The sports team Dan mentions is a good example of a "genuine" use that provides real value for fans. If they''re trying to exploit these platforms though, like any other social media, it may come back to haunt them.
