We are a search engine marketing company providing services to small businesses and we are looking at setting-up a referral program. In regards to the incentive to offer our customers to refer friends or colleagues to our services, we have considered offering discounts on our services or even movie tickets. However, I would really like to hear from fellow members on what they believe is the right offer or share any experience they may have with referral programs. So, my question is... what offers or incentives do you think would motivate a business customer to refer our services to their friends, colleagues, industry friends etc?

July 14th I am the founder of a Search Engine Optimization company, and most of my customers are small businesses. I can tell you that the thing that hurts them the most is the monthly fee that they have to commit to for a period of 6 months or a year. I can charge almost anything I want as an up-front fee, but the monthly is the one that they hate. I would suggest that for small businesses, the best incentive for them to bring their associates, colleagues, etc. is a percentage reduction on their monthly fee. It doesn't have to be huge, but it should be enough for it to be worth their while, but not hurt your pocket too much. Reply
