Noticed the Illinois Sec of State had set up my LLC so I went and get an FEIN (online) and an Illinois Business Tax Number (still processing).

So I decided to see if I could take the two sets of info I had and get a business bank account. My lawyer said I couldn't. I won.

Moving away from banking, I want to ask people here how people here structured all their endevours. If you have a profitable business do you set up a whole new entity when you start a new project? Due you feel there is no legal risk and not even worth your time to separate? Do you do it because your state or country is cheap (In illinois its $500 per LLC)? Let me know

I have decided my member community will be ran on Ning. I'm creating the format now. It's cheapness, mixed with scalability, mixed with a good group of developers available made it top choice.

I'll let you all know how Ning Customization goes over the next two weeks.

Websites and Corporate Formations

I completed registration of my LLC this weekend .Thanks to an Amex Gold Card I was able to use bizfillings to register for free with their discount. So I now have the holding company formed for my next three companies.

I create simple sites for my holding company with the a link to my current project. I finally created a basic page for me. JamesBird.us I figured it was time to finally buy my name and point to most of my representations on the web.

If I hadn't mentioned before I got all the tracking put together for Google analytics, Google Adwords Converstion Tracker, and Yahoo Marketing Conversation Tracker. Now I need to start working on my sales letter page and I will be near completion.

Anyone have a good ebook or website reference for creating a great ebook. I'm more interested in structure as I'd like a popup requesting your email everytime you open it on a new computer.

GIMP - A learning experience - Oct. 18, 2007

Needed a use an image editing tool that I could install without admin rights and wouldn't get me fired for pirating. The winner was GIMP. Not sure if the man will like me having it on my machine but you can't win them all.

Learning GIMP was an experience as I didn't find it intuitive at all for the tasks I wanted to do. I'm used to Fireworks which is fast as can be for what I wanted to do. Either read through the users manual and its a pretty cool program and was able to edit what I wanted to in no time flat. Go the header/logo thing up and once I decided on the final page buttons I'll be done with graphic design.

I used templates from http://ezminisites.com/ specifically designed for squeeze pages and sales letter pages.

Give you an update on the review of the writers work soon.

At my job we are merging with another company. So we had the new SuperVP come in today to meet us each individually and ask us some detailed questions. I was reinterviewing for my job. Unfortunately I passed.

Either way I got alot done with my site. I signed up for 1ShoppingCart through WebMarketingMagic. I had heard alot about WebMarketingMagic and what they offered but didn't know they were just reselling 1ShoppingCart. Which is ok because I hadn't spent much time on 1ShoppingCart even though I know alot about the functionality of WMM. So far I am happy with the products. I got it linked to my page and it takes orders.

Also my writer in india got back to me with the first draft of my book. It look great.

I am a Christ follower.

I am an entrepreneur.

I am presently employed by “the man” and don’t want to be.

I have a huge interest in human development and excellence.

Add all this together and you have my latest venture into the “Christian Living” ebook arena.

Maybe it’s best to start with how I got here.

After college I owned two importing business that did not-amazing. They were great experiences but didn’t provide a great financial stream.

So I got a job as an IT Auditor for a Fortune 100 company. Here I am today. Only problem is that I have lived oversees and had my own business. My lips have been wet with freedom.

Now I reset out as an information marketer creating Christian oriented self-help information.

Over the next few weeks I’ll chronicle where I am at, the roadblocks and the successes as I move forward in this adventure.

Next post will be were I am at now in the project and some timeframes.
